The Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Councillor Salas Kiani was guest of honour as Darwen Civic Society handed out it Civic Pride awards in 1999. Councillor Eileen Eatham received an award on behalf of tghe council and Connie Buxton of Buxton Bakery received an award from Sally Haworth, chairman of the society.
