This photo from August 1966 gives us a glimpse inside one of Accrington's industrial powerhouses. It was taken in the heavy machine shop at Howard and Bullough's Globe Works where castings for large machinery was made. In its heyday the firm - which later became Platt, Saco Lowell was the town's largest employer making everything from looms for the spinning industry to aircraft parts 564815306-
