In 1986 plans were well underway to turn this unused patch of land into Bolton's newest station. The site on Crompton Way, Hall i'th'Wood was due to open as a station in September. The 120,000 project was one of the last scheme drawn up by the Greater Manchester Council and was aimed to provide a new stop on the Bolton to Blackburn line.
