Description
ON THIS DAY 70 YEARS AGOON April 27, 1954, the front page of The Northern Echo had a weird story about Signor Umberton de Bedin, who wasn't an Italian count as some imagined. He had arrived in Sunderland to marry his East Boldon fianc, Miss June Blackhurst, 20, whom he had met in Holg Kong three years earlier. Would the revelation about his lack of a title affect their wedding? Will we ever know?
