lightships & light vessels. Pictured: Cross Sand lightship at Yarmouth. Date: 25 sep 1949. 1 The lightship had been in a collision with the Cairo City, a steamer being towed north for breaking up. The lightship’s starboard bows were damaged and she began to leak. The lightship was eventually brought into Yarmouth by the tug Richard Lee Barber. Her skipper was Mr GV Harris of Yarmouth.
