DOUGLAS Cairns, 18, who played guitar in clubs and as a street busker, was featured in these pages in April 1979 after coming top of Glasgow University’s General Bursary Examination. The Eastbank Academy, Shettleston, pupil took his special papers in Greek and Latin.
