In May 1963 after Olave Lady Baden-Powell officially opened Brownsea Island to the public, she went to Poole Park where she inspected Girl Guides, Guiders, Brownie Guiders, handicapped Guides, Senior Branch members and Brownies. She was given a special memento of Brownsea Island, a book of coloured photographs of the island, presented by Queen s Guides, Judith Ironside and Mary Bishop.
