LOST LETTERS: WE Gill and Son’s house furnishing shop at the end of Newgate Street was absolutely unmissable due to the enormous lettering on the roof. A few years after this picture was taken on February 25, 1964, this distinctive building was replaced by the Newgate shopping centre
