The original Locomotion No 1 recreating its inaugural journey at the 1925 centenary celebrations. It is passing in front of the specially-constructed grandstand at Urlay Nook. Mr Middlewood was present in the grandstand, along with the Duke and Duchess of York who, 14 years later as George VI and Queen Elizabeth, would find their royal train in Mr Middlewood's hands at Bishop Auckland station.
