FOR nearly a year, we've been fascinated by urine deflectors: pieces of brickwork that the Victorians jammed into dark alleyways and corners to prevent men from urinating there. By filling in the 90 degrees, the brickwork prevented men from concealing themselves, and it was often angled so that it bounced any urine back onto the urinator's trousers.
