the A167 back then, the Great North Road, was notorious for its climb up Dean Bank at Ferryhill. Attempts to make it less severe were started in 1832 although it wasnt completed until 1923. This photograph was taken soon after the postmark seems to be 1925. The sign on the bridge reads: Caution Cross Roads Drive Slowly.
