File photo dated 1899 of King Edward VII then Prince of Wales on a 12hp Daimler for his first motor car drive, at Highcliff Castle accompanied by The Hon John Scott Montagu. The historic event was today 5th July 1999 reenacted by his son Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, who drove the vehicle through the gates of Westminster, New Palace Yard where his father had 100 years ago had failed .
