September 1959 Castlegate School and playground, the proposed site for a multi-storey car park. The instigator of the scheme suggests that was land behind the trees on the left of the picture could also be utilised, with an entrance at the side of St George s Cinema. Castlegate school in 1959 before it was demolished. Note the fine array of trees, remembered with affection. YEP PIC
