A gardener picks up leaves from the drive leading to Smithills Hall oin BOlton in this photo taken in Sepember 1936. This was the entrance off Smithills Dean Roadand you can see the ornate gatehouse or lodge. The ornate design was added to the gatehouse in the early 20th Century. It is now a private home within the grounds of the Grade I hall which has origins in Medieval times 520317238-newport
