WE loved this photograph of roadworks in Church Bank in Bolton taken in 1949.There are many reasons why this photograph stood out when discovered in our files. The first is probably the design of the cars heading up the road and also it is fascinating to see the workmen digging the road wearing cloth flat caps rather than the protective head gear they would have on today.
