Virgin Trains driver Joe Porter pictured on the footplate of the Glen Douglas , a K-Class 4-4-0 steam locomotive built at Cowlairs works in 1913 that is on display at the Riverside museum, Glasgow. Joe retired today, Thursday 11th April after 46 years working on the railways. He started out as a fireman on steam trains in 1967 just before they went out of service. Photograph by Colin Mearns
